First-Year Students (freshmen)

New Transfer Students (undergraduates transferring from another institution into the Colleges of Business, Nursing, Liberal Arts & Sciences, or the undergraduate programs in the Colleges of Dentistry, or Medicine)

UI Transfer Students (current or former University of Iowa undergraduates transferring from one college to another within this institution)

Re-entry Students (undergraduates who have been absent from the University for 12 months or more and who wish to resume study in the college in which they left)

International Undergraduate Students

Graduate and Professional Students (including international students)

Nondegree Students (undergraduates who plan to take only a limited number of courses on this campus, or high school students who wish to take courses while still enrolled in high school—and—graduate students who plan to take only a limited number of courses on this campus.)
