Variations in the nervous system are fewer than in any other organ system. This is undoubtedly due to the fact that the nervous system, more or less, controls the function of all the other organs. There is less latitude for variation if the individual is to survive to a reproductive age. Nonetheless, there are numerous very interesting," not life threating, exceptions to the rule," which are described below.
