Fracture, Toddler's

Clinical Presentation:
Between 9 months old and 3 years old the child suddenly refuses to bear weight and walk. Point tenderness and erythema may be present.

Etiology/Pathophysiology:
Child falls while learning to walk and develops a non displaced spiral tibial fracture.

Pathology:
Not applicable

Imaging Findings:
Non displaced spiral fracture, usually of the tibia, whose fracture line may be hard to see on plain film. AP or internally rotated views are best for visualization. If the plain films are unremarkable a bone scan may be helpful in making the diagnosis.
